DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – PUERTA PLATA

Golden Beaches on the Amber Coast…

On the Dominican Republic’s northern Amber Coast, Puerto Plata is surrounded by mountain ranges, a two-mile crescent of powdery amber sands, and the sparkling waters of the Atlantic. Puerto Plata is aptly named for the silvery hues of its natural harbor. Here, the infectious rhythms of Caribbean music can be heard all around! Playa Dorada, a gated resort area of all-inclusive hotels situated by an 18-hole golf course boasts more than two miles of gorgeous shoreline. Cabarete is a cool, hip coastal village located just 25 minutes from Puerto Plata. The area is known as the world’s kite boarding and windsurfing capital.

Puerto Plata has the only aerial tramway in the Caribbean. With it, one can ride up to Pico Isabel de Torres a  793 meter high mountain within the city. The top of the mountain features a botanical garden and replica of Christ the Redeemer the famous statue in Rio De Janiero

The average daytime temperature is 83 degrees F, with August being the warmest month and December the coolest. Summer temperatures range from 89-95°F, winter from 75-90°F.
