New shop to showcase handcrafted chocolates
A new shop showcasing hand-crafted chocolates is set to open at Disney Springs Dec. 15, and it will be called the Ganachery.
Disney Pastry Chef Stefan Riemer is responsible for the chocolate boutique which only features simple and pure chocolate. You won’t find other sugary sweets here. Stefan explains, “It has nothing to do with candy.”
What should you order? Well, according to Disney Parks Blog, the most popular item is the custom-made ganache, “a luxurious, proprietary mixture of melted chocolate and cream.”
Once guests arrive, they can watch an expert take the stage to mix and decorate the chocolate.
And of course, what would a Disney chocolate shop be without Disney-themed treats? The shop will offer nine custom-made chocolate bars reflecting the Disney characters and destinations. The character bars will be Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto and Donald Duck. The destination bars will be the Aulani bar (white chocolate with pineapple and coconut), the Disneyland Paris bar (dark chocolate with liquid caramel and fleur de sel), the Disneyland Resort bar (milk chocolate with raisins and almonds), and the Minnie bar (milk chocolate with dried strawberries.)
Exclusively for the winter holidays, Chef Stefan has created a baked mini-stollen, the classic German fruit bread, this one covered with marzipan, then enrobed in a dark chocolate blend.
And if you were thinking the Ganachery would be the perfect spot to pick up a souvenir, you were right! The chocolates are wrapped in tiny, decorative boxes.
